Our membership includes Doctors, Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians - Critical Care, and Emergency Medical Technicians - Basic, as well as Certified First Responders. There are also members in our department which include committee members, drivers, and probationary members. In addition to these members we also have a Youth Squad program for children ages 13 to 17.5 to become involved in Emergency Medical Services.
There is absolutely no experience required to join. We will provide all training and uniforms as well as set you up to receive your CPR/AED and NYS Emergency Medical Technician certification.

Members volunteer a minimum of 6 hours a week, attend one training a month and one general meeting a month.
Our membership types include:
Riding Members: Serve on a duty tour 6 hours a week
Committee Members: Serve on committees that support department operations
Associate Members: Members of other fire or EMS agencies that wish to also volunteer with Exchange Ambulance.
Youth Squad (Ages 13 - 17.5): Meet on Sunday nights at 5pm to learn about EMS operations and skills.
We do not require that our volunteers live within the Exchange Ambulance EMS district.
All applicants must submit a non-interest-bearing deposit of $100 in the form of a money order or certified bank check in order to be considered for probationary membership. This deposit will be collected during the applicant’s meeting with the Membership Committee at department headquarters and is not required at the time of submitting this online application. The date and time of the meeting for the formal application process will be distributed via electronic mail by the Membership Committee.
The deposit shall be refunded only upon successful completion of the probationary period as approved by the membership at a monthly meeting. The probationary period may range from six (6) months to two (2) years, contingent upon the time required for the applicant to obtain clearance as an EMT and/or driver, as determined by the department bylaws.
In the event that an applicant voluntarily resigns or otherwise removed from the department for failure to meet probationary membership requirements, the deposit shall be forfeited and will not be returned.
